How to Market Your Business
By Yitzy Koenig
Competition is stiff these days and
it’s hard to get your business noticed.
Everyone is sure they are offering
the best product and services, if only
the consumer had the chance to find
out. The only way to give the public
the opportunity to recognize your
excellence is to get your business
recognized and the only way to do
that is through marketing.
Advertising is the number one way
to make your business known. Sit
down and develop a comprehensive
advertising plan that would benefit
your business the most while taking
into consideration your budget.
Nowadays there are many methods
of advertising and sometimes an
advertising campaign can kick start
your existing business or introduce
consumers to a business just
starting out. Between newspapers,
magazines, circulars and internet,
there are many options available when
it comes to advertising, all you need is
a solid strategy to take advantage of
these choices.
Use this opportunity to let
consumers know what makes
your business unique from similar
businesses. Enumerate the ways
that you can serve their interests by
highlighting the most important points
that you want to get across. Too much
information sometimes results in the
more important facts getting lost in
the clutter.
Having a noticeable sign in the
front of your store or office is very
important. Make sure it’s big enough to
get noticed and that the color scheme
doesn’t blend with its surroundings. If
you have the challenge of running a
business without a storefront then you
cannot rely on walk in traffic. These
types of businesses rely exclusively
on advertising and the right marketing
strategy can make all the difference in
your success.
Get business cards that are
attractive and that represent the type
of business you have. For example,
if your business is geared toward
children, make your business card
colorful and fun. But, if you want
customers to know that you run a
professional, upscale business, make
sure your marketing materials are
classy.
Try having a special event to
welcome customers to your business.
A good example of this would be a
sales event, an open house or a special
giveaway, such as new customer
specials, coupons, trial offers. Don’t
be afraid to give a little to receive big
dividends. By bringing customers in
initially to experience what you have
to offer, you may generate repeat
business that will offset any profit loss
you may have experienced by hosting
the special event or promotion.
Small business upstarts face
dissolution everyday. Presently the
economy makes the success of a
new business seem a rarity. But
outside influences only play a part in
your ultimate success or failure. Do
not be discouraged when starting out,
you started your business because
you thought it was sound idea and
