A Healthy Rhyme and Reason to Prepare for Fall Flu Season
Dear Maxi Health-
I am already a nervous wreck anticipating
the Fall Flu season. This is always a
hard time for my husband and me. We have
7 k’einhara children, all close in age, and
when one gets sick, they fall like dominoes!
Last year we dealt with dehydration, fevers,
aches, diarrhea, and more than three-weeks
of alternating kids being home from school.
What can we do to minimize the likelihood
of contracting the flu? How can we deal with
it when/if it hits? What can we do to reduce
the chances that it will spread to everyone in
the home?
Mommy the Nurse
Dear Nurse Mom:
Your question could not have come at a
more appropriate time. The fall brings with
it thoughts of Yom Tov, changing leaves in
the Catskills, and the fear of another season
of sick children. Rest assured, every mother
is on the same page right now, dreading the
possibilities that her children will become
sick once school is back in session.
Some of the most important things that
moms and dads can do to prevent flu contamination
is to wash their hands frequently
to reduce the chance of spreading germs,
and teach children when they are young, to
do the same. *Do not cough or sneeze into
your hands-rather a tissue, or a towel-the
likelihood of transmitting hand to hand is
very high. *Avoid contact with those who appear
sick. Just apologize nicely and walk away
quickly. *Keep hands off of your face, avoiding
hand contact with eyes, nose, and mouth
will reduce the transmission of germs to open
portals to your internal body. * Adequate intake
of immune boosting supplements daily
can keep your body’s resistance and improve
immune response. Over 200,000 people a
year are hospitalized from flu complications,
which is otherwise so easy to prevent.
Some of the most common and most effective
supplements you might consider for
yourself and your children to avoid getting
the flu this year include probiotics to restore
and maintain balance of naturally occurring,
‘friendly’ bacteria. Garlic is among the few
herbs that are universally used and recognized
for its beneficial effects. Its daily use aids and
supports the body in ways that no other herb
does; an immune booster to help stay naturally
resistant to opportunistic germs such as
the common cold ‘bug’ and more severe ‘flu’
and ‘respiratory illness’ that frequently occurs
during the colder months while we are warm
inside with multiplying germs and bacteria.
For all of your children’s seasonal prevention
needs, Maxi Health provides several
products that can provide the support and
comfort they need at this time of the year.
Beginning with Liquid Kyolic, the great ancient
garlic healer, to support a healthy immune
system. Kiddie Boost - (probiotics and
amino acids) which helps reduce children’s
risk of infection from viruses, even for those
with already compromised immune systems.
Chewable Yummie C 250 (with pantothenic
acid, zinc, bioflavonoids), to fight the common
cold.
As with all vitamins and medications, consider
speaking to your healthcare practitioner before
adding any supplements to your diet or using any
